I'm not an INTEL fan, but figured I might post some good news for you. If you were planning on buying, you might want to wait a month or two....

try august or 3rd Qtr ...intel will release the conroe variants that have been raping amd fx chips in side by side benches , an estimated 40 percent performance jump over anything amd can muster up , the entire fab was relocated from israel last year , the final release will be named Core2 and start at 3.0ghz and go up to 4.0 ghz within a given 12 month cycle.

Yes Instinct but as everyone knows AMD is not going to let Intel just jump leaps and bounds over their products. They will release something new to rival Intels new chips.

And we are still waiting for AMD to do something?
Seriously, I wonder what is going on.  I would have thought AMD would be throwing something out there, at least some sort of bone.  The Q class Intel chips are creaming AMD today.  Something is just not right here.

They are way behind.  All the things we once attributed to AMD chips, lower temps, lower power consumption, etc., are now in Intel's corner and yet they still make the faster chips.  The only thing AMD has going for it right now in terms of CPU's is lower prices, which really goes hand in hand with a lower quality product.  They had the advantage in the graphics area for a while with the 48xx line, but it's looking like that is going to change next year.

Well I am an Intel fan, there has been nothing from AMD to make me run towards them.
I am somewhat confused as to why AMD is sitting on it's haunches and not moving to the new cores like Intel has.  Come on, there is a market out there for a chip other than Intel.  So why is AMD the K-Mart of CPU's?  I would dare to say that the arm wrestling match between Intel and AMD shows Intel hands down.

Intel moving to six-cores this year; What will you do with them?
Oh and the
8-core-Intel-Workstation-Pounds-16-core-AMD-Platform-to-the-Groundl

With the onslaught of multi cores hitting the market now and more so next year it makes me wonder if AMD will still be in the picture.

Hopefully AMD will have this in their pocket but I doubt they can catch Intel.
