Every time I try to use the view unread button it shows that there are no unread topics. Any ideas...operator error?

No, I check mine that way all the time.   I will look into this.  Is anyone else noticing this issue?

Yea same here then it shows the "glowing" Ball showing new post...

Are you looking carefully to see if there may be a child board included in that forum?  For instance, Private BF2 has several "Child Boards"  That glowing ball includes posts with n those child boards.  Just a thought.

Mine seems to be working intermittantly now. The most reliable way for me to check is in the recent topics on the left panel. That's fine with me as long as it stays there.

If you log on and log off, even if you don't check topics, this forum will not show them as unread the next time.  You have to click the "check all unanswered topics" when it comes up as no topics. 

Okay..simply put. If you log on, then log off for any reason..all "new unread" topics cookies are cleared.  . .even if you dint access them the previous time (or do a search of new topics) .

This is a cookie issue.  It tries to know where you have been and what has changed.  There are two sets of cookies here one local (on your computer) and one hosted - (Web site) If you view a message as "New" the next time you log in it will not show the new unless there is a new post since your last visit.  Your computer may not save those cookie very long (depending on your settings) but the sever cookies last until you actually make a change in the forum.  It is kinda redundant but trust the forum cookies first, that one will not change unless you visit the page.
At some point, a local cookie that gets left by any webpage to your computer may expire (doubtful but not uncommon in security settings on your computer) - The glowing balls that tells you there are unread are serverside cookies telling you there is something new from last visit.  It is kind of difficult to explain, but if you see the glowing ball, there is a new message you haven't read or skipped over since your last visit.

Great! Thanks for the explanation, I was beginning to think it was something about each visit. I'll just have to pay more attention from now on.
