«
on:
January 08, 2007, 11:15:20 AM »
I would like to get some info on LCD Monitor's from everyone that has good info( or even bad):O).
I am thinking about getting one. I have a 19" CRT Anchor right now. What would I need to get that is good for gaming?
What model or what specs should I look for??
Thanks for any help

I prefer Acer. I get Acer for our computers at work. they have a 3 year warranty. look for the lowest response time, and a high contrast ratio. I think those are the most important.
and you will want the dvi (digital) connectors if you have a vid card that has dvi output

This is an awsome Monitor Both myself and Puddytat have it. its a 19inch. 4ms response time and a 1400:1 contrast ratio. for 184 bucks can't beat it. I got it for X-mas and man I love it. I ordered and had it in 3 days. Free shipping as well so thats a plus.

5 Ms or less is a good gamer LCD. 12 ms or more may not be suitable for gaming - Just an FYI
What I did was hit the
newegg.com
site and read reviews. This will help a lot. Dont take any single review to heart, read them all.

I have a BenQ FP93GX 19'' 2ms. I like it alot. The main thing to look at is the response time. As TK said, don't go above 12ms if you game, especially if you're in to FPS games like us where there is alot of movement. With higher response times, you'll notice ghosting, or after images. Look for customer reviews on sites like NewEgg to see what people have to say. You'll also want to check out contrast ratio (pixels per square inch). Higher is better, mine is 700:1. With lower contrast ratios, detail is lost. A higher contrast ratio also means you are less likely to notice any dead or stuck pixels. Check out the brightness rating also, most are around 250 (I forget the unit they are measured in). Mine is 300 and is very bright in an unlit room, too bright I'd say. You'll also have to decide if you want widescreen or not. My preference is the standard 4:1 ratio.

Running at 60Mhz or 75 Kitty? I am sure 12ms will work fine too.

well i would go with something like this..
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-5123
true high definition 720 p and 1080i hdtv quality , these dell monitors are highly recomended , either way go widescreen its the future square box 4:3 is so outdated now ,all new content and HD , are widescreen
16:9 or 16:10 , its a much more natural aspect for your eyes and yeilds better productivity due to added real estate, gaming is awesome you see more and die less.
