As you know My PC took a dump and now I need to install some drivers. I need the driver for my sound card but I don't know where to go. It is a on borad sound card, biostar the number on the sound card plug is N298. but when I go to biostar's driver page I have no clue what it is asking me chip set ect...HELP!!!

whats the model number on the mboard? you should just be able to look that up on www.biostar.com.tw and the onboard sound for that mboard should be listed.

Look for on-board peripherals (sp?)  Needs to be turned onint the bios too. It may already be in the drivers for your board and jsut need ot be turned on?  I dunno.

First off is it a VIA chipset or an Nvidia i can't remember really. If its Nvidia U can go to Nvidia.com and get it if its VIA u can get the All in one VIA drivers and that will get it working as well.

Windows update, choose custom - look at the additional updates windows has found and choose them.  Windows can find hardware and software updates for that motherboard.  You just need to choose custom rather than express when doing a Windows update.

Tom, do you have the BIOS set to on-board sound or PCI?  Change it to on-board (intergrated)

I did the windows up date thing there was 11 things. I installed them but still no sound. I then went to nvida and Installed that. But it still shows no audio installed?

Ok got it now!!!
