You might have to refer to the owners manual on or equipment. You can convert the format to DVD though and use your DVD player. 4.7 or 8 GiG is allot of music!

Well, let me see here. If your stereo can accept USB or IDE/ATA your good to go, you will more than likely need a computer to send it to the stereo if not. The computer is what knows how to run the HD, a stereo usually is just that, a stereo. So to get that sound from that HD it will probably need to be processed through the computer. Look at your sound card, output would end up at the stereo’s input. There are some wirelees set ups out there I will be looking into personally for my set up.

Gunner, if its just a USB external drive then you won't have much luck doing much of anything with it without a PC. This is why a 200GB external usb drive costs ~$100 and a 30gb iPod costs about $400... is because the iPod has internal allocation of the iPod software to sit to control the device, whereas the USB drive only does read/write based on whatever you tell the PC to tell the drive to do... much the same as an internal harddrive... useless without a computer.

I have an internal HD with my music in .wav files and some MP3 files.
I simply come out of the "line out" (stereo mini-plug to RCA connectors) of my soundcard to my stereo. A good Creative sound card and many onboard cards have a line out.
There are also many converters and players for this type of thing. I dont see why this wont wok with your external HD.

I think he was asking if the external will work without a computer... in which case the answer would be no as it doesn't have anything to process the data on the drive.

d-link wireless media

For the ultimate experience, an Intel® Viiv™ technology-based PC and an Intel® Viiv™ technology verified router are recommended.

Logitech Wireless DJ

Logitech StreamPoint software only works in combination with the Wireless DJ Music System hardware. (Note: You need to have .Net Framework 1.1 installed prior to installing this software.)
... means you need the DJ hardware... and a computer (since you need MS Framework 1.1)...
The "DJ Hardware" in the picture on that link looks like a media player, so it probably has its own hdd built in... and having that, or an ipod, or some other device made for media storage AND playback are the only way your going to get a "computerless" setup.

Simple answer is to burn the music to CD.DVD and play it on your Stereo.
My brother, who is a Mackie connects his iMac laptop wirelessly to his stereo. It is a Mac thing. I am sure there are PC soft/hardware for that same thing. I would be interested.

A good sound card will often have software for that.

all U gotta do gunner is take a converter for the small plug on your PC's sound card and conver to an RCA plug. Then Use windows media player. Just like hooking your TV up to your Home entertainment center.
