BF2142 has a new booster pak as well.  Northern something.  It adds a few new maps and toys.  You can use the EA downloader to retrieve your games and make purchases.  Pretty nice for updates and all.

No, 2142 is a seperate game and Northern Strike is its expansion.  v1.2 is the current patch, which you can download through EA Link (formerly EA Downloader), but you probably won't need to since you're just now buying it.  NS is only available through EA Link, for 9.95 last I checked.  You can get 2142 itself through there or in stores.

My recommendation: try the demo first.  Games are just too expensive nowadays to take a chance.

2142 ..IT IS TOO CLOSE to the release of quake wars ET , for me to invest in another already expansioned game, and im in the opinion that QW will be head and shoulders above 2142 , sorry guys i just dumped too much money down the BF series to give it another go,especially when tons of newer games are ready to launch.

Wel you dashed my hopes.  I was all set to see you in 2142 (thought that was what you meant by above post). It would have good to play with you again. But the post above means that wont happen? How many of us play quake wars?

Oh man,  QW appears to be the next first person shooter.  But in that same line, how many here would buy it and of any, who could run it?  These newer games are hogs.  I don't mean that in a bad way at all.  But $50 a game and $1000 upgrade to play it is not where some people are at price wise. 
I will be upgrading my vid card soon so that puts me down game wise for a while.

sry eve, i was voicing aloud , i meant in general terms of course, regarding the entire squad there is only 1 game we all have +++JO &ICMod+++

and i doubt everyone is up to dive back into it now, BF2 i thought would be it, i even bought the expansions, alas i only ever saw Jug and TK playing it, so when confronted with the prospect of buying another BF series came along i have to weigh it against the fact that the long long awaited QW is soon to ship out, and yes it will be the Badass game on the block FPS wise for most of the summer and fall till crysis hits.

as far as requirements go for QW its not so bad, if you can run doom3 quake4 or any of the BF games then you can run Quake wars ET just fine.

it will use a trimmed version of the D3 engine optimized for multiplayer, so say min 1gig ram, P4 or amd 3800, GF 66/6800gt or better ,ati X800 or better.

Quake Wars ET is going to be a great online game...check out some  gameplay vids you will  see what i mean.
