I am about to try and do a bit of video editing and need a good vid card.  I have looked at the e-GeForce FX 5200 (recommended by a friend) it's a bit of investment.  It had a vid breakout box and audio connectors. 128MB memory on card.  I'll run it on a 1.4 gig chip.

This is the card but the one I will get wil have the RCA break out box and cabel input so I can use a DVD/VHS player with it.

I also need software for audio editing where I can see the wave forms in the editing.  I woth limited hearing I  need the visual along with special headphones and the new beltones.  Sound Audio Workshop is what i am looking at.

if U want a 5200 eve i would talk to felix though its not a good  card. Its very old. Not sure how detailed your video editing will be but remember the more money u can put on a decent card the faster it will be and happier U will be. Just keep that in mind.

Yes, that is 3 generations behind.  BTW don't ever buy directly from the manufacturer.  Same card, half the price:

I noticed that is a PCI card also, not PCI-E or AGP.  Is that the only slot your board has for a video card?

Stink Bag.. I am shocked.. ATI!!
Sorry NEVER EVER BUY ATI STUFF.
ATI has had a History of low to no Support for there stuff, Lack of Drivers, Driver updates and Driver Patches/Fixes.

Good advice all.  If this works out I will move up later.  But I dont want to invest in high end stuff right now.  I also will need to upgrade to a faster chipset before I spend bucks on up to date cards and software.   This package for 24.95 comes with software, remote, cable hook up and the breakout box. It will get my toe in the water.

not anymore felix.

in fact in windows vista ATI has the best drivers and the best support. perhaps back in the days of the generation we are speaking of, yes i would agree, but those days are gone.
i have an ATI X1950 pro that kicks the living daylights out of any other agp card nvidia could throw out there, and scince the merger with AMD, the tech support has leapfrogged, a benefit of the AMD buisiness sense.

even under windows XP the drivers are very very good, and stable to boot. and since we are talking about a PCI card the options are limited, the ATI 9250 256 meg is the best performer under that bracket. compare it to a 5200 and it not even a fair fight.
