i have a netgear router mr814v2 somrtimes it sees my cable modem then sometimes it doesnt i am getting really fustrated with this any help would be great it is working now but i dont know how long for

How old is it gunner?



 Another thing U may do is check to see if it has an updated version of the firmware for it. U can check the netgear site for that.

OH, and also Have U checked the cable going from the Modem to your Router. It could have a broke wire thats making connection sometimes and others not I have seen this. Quite odd and frustrating.

I really think it has to with the MAC cloning Gunner.  Try these steps exactly.  Assuming that the MAC address has been cloned properly (Cloning your desktop ethernet's MAC address to the routers)  With everything running, cable modem, router and your computer.... Reboot the cable modem then the router and lastly your computer.  Do this in this order making sure each has fully booted before booting the next appliance.  Let me know.
What this will do is push the cloned mac address through the router to your ISP (Charter). You should never have to do that again unless you shut down the router.  Even then, I don't think you will have to do it then.
