Thank you everyone for your kind words and prayers. Update this morning, my Dad shattered the top of his tibula which is the weight bareing bone in the bottom of your knee, there is to much swelling today to do a surgery. They are going to wait a couple days, maybe put in a exterior fixtulation on him which is 2 pins in the top bone and 2 pins on the bottom bone with a steel rod connecting them on the outside of his leg until the swelling goes down. In 2 weeks they will go in and put a steel plate with 4 pins and 3 screws in. Then in about a year they will do a total knee replacement. I guess it could have been alot worse. Probably to much information, But everyone needs to tell their loved ones how much they love them because you never know what and when something can happen. I have just come to that realization.ok I quit rambling on. But again Thanks.

No problem bud, sometimes people may take the time they have for granted, and may need that extra push to say hey slow down and take a moment to smell the roses so to speak.  So often we think, oh it will be there tomorrow or it can wait, but can it really, it only takes two seconds to say I love you or give a hug, or pick up a phone, or say a prayer.  Take a day to do things with the family you been wanting to do and say the heck with it, life is to short.  We often wait for something terrible or tragic to happen to open our eyes and it is a shame.  We should take life by its horns and show it who is boss.  God Bless you and your family, and I know the surgery you speak of, it is painful but your Dad is a lucky man and it could have been alot worse.  He is blessed to have a caring son.  I hope he had a good Father's Day.

Well my Dads surgery was yesterday at 1:30 pm and he didn't leave recovery until 11:30 pm. There was a lot more damage then expected. The doctor said it was the worst knee he has seen in 20 yrs. He now has 2 metal plates,2 pins and 5 screws in his tibula. He was in the most pain I have ever seen him in. But like the doctor said he is in 1 piece. I want to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts. He will be better just going to take time now. Thanks

Glad to hear the surgury went well.  Good luck and God speed on his full recovery.
Think of all the cool stories he could make up for the erector set.  Now he has braggin rights.... although not fun to get.

Friends of mine always had sayin( I am sure anyone that rides have heard it): there are 2 types of riders.. those that have wiped out and those that will.
Sorry that he had to go through such a rough ordeal.
Is he still gettin a total replacement down the line?  I know 2 people that had that done in their mid/late 50's and said after rovery, they felt like new men, even more physical activities than before.
