One is a 3.8ghz Intel..the other a 2.8 Ghz dual core. I need to use one for a gaming machine.. Just wanted to know which one was best. I will put a NVidia 7800 and also 3 gigs high-end ram in which ever one I choose. Both have 750 watt power supply

Eve, I would suggest the Dual core - Only for the reason that it has the ability to process more info - 2.8 is well fast enough.  3.8 is fast but can it process as much as the 2.8?  I really doubt it but that would depend on the bus speeds and a few other factors - Dual core would be where I would go.

Good advice.  Whichever one you choose, Gloria, cut the services down to bare-bones.  I saw a thread on this board for optimizing Windows XP pro for gaming.  Last I looked you had too many background items running.

yes, if you have a mother board tha allows profiling, that is a way to go - Other way is to create a user log in (Windows account) that has minimal services and log in to that account in XP or Vista.
