Now, the main reason I am posting this is i figured some of you would know best. Ive just started reading about White Phosphorous since seeing this picture taken in Gaza, and the stuff seems absolutely nasty...that it's so hot it can combust certain objects it touches etc etc.

Whats your knowledge on white phosphorous, or phosphorous in general...only real thing i know is its used in tracers...

It's used for illumination, incendiary, and smoke screens in artillery shells, mortars, and rockets.

Magnesium (sp) is one of a key components.  Very hot and very difficult to extinguish even submerged in water.  High flame rate - is known to starve it self of oxygen monetarily only to reignite.  It has burns at such a high temp it burns through most anything instantly other than high impact steel some other metals.  I guess in some cases secondary combustion can occur when it meets water - creates Hydrogen and can be very explosive in a confined area.

Now looking at that picture - We should pray for those and be blessed this hasn't arrived her in the US. (yet)
Please take a moment and think about that.

It can be delivered in air-burst shells and rifle grenades.  Also, delivered in rockets and bombs from aircraft.   It is used as a defense for tanks on the battlefield to ward off ground troops.
It's supposed to be against international agreement in some respects. If the terrorist have any ordinance around chances are they will be hurt by their own weapon so both the US and Israel use it. They get around this as it is also used as an illumination shell.
They used phosphorous/magnesium in early movie film and there are stories of terrible theatre fires.    I actually had some old strips if it and set one ablaze when I was younger. I still remember its white hot and the fuse-like blaze.

No one aught to die like that no..but I will do most anything to protect the innocent.   If it's bunining a hole though some dispicable slauhterer of innocent people then so be it.  That kinda death may lower us to their level, true and is open to debate, but if all I had to save a life was a belt sander, I'd use it. I feel this way I guess because I have seen first hand soem senseless death and destruction in Israel. I was only 15 but I will never forget it and still ask why and still feel anger about it.
The Israelis have a national sense about this.  They must do SOMETHING. They can't just sit by and let terrorists lob rockets into their towns and houses.  It's too much akin to being led like cattle into the ovens at a concentration camp.  The terrorists shoot them from populated areas in Gaza which is sad..but I think that blood is on Hezbollah hands.

It is one thing to throw that stuff on an enemy who is fighting you.  But to just drop it in an area with civilians is an abberition.  Do not mistake me.  Hamas should get an eyeful of the stuff.  But that stuff in the picture is bouncing off of an apartment building.
