IW says no delay for PC, all versions out on Nov. 10th. Also, Prestige mode confirmed for PC version!

Well, pretty bad news here. They're not going to have dedicated servers. It's going to use a matchmaking system over something called IWNet in conjunction with Steam's VAC instead of Punkbuster. This is a major blow to the PC side as there is no server list and no ability to host or pay for a server with a hosting company for that matter. This virtually eliminates competitive play and makes clanplay difficult. Another game catering to the console market and shafting the PC. I'll still keep my eye on it, but with 3 weeks until launch I don't see them changing this.
There's an interview here with the community person for IW talking about it, skip to about 1 hr 41 min:

This is what they did with OFP2! They screwed all the PC users out of SADS. It is a lobby type system. There is no way to server a dedicated game. Even with the lobby, you can create a server but you MUST play as well. You cannot leave it unattended - less you piss the players off for not Ready'ing up! This is entirely BS.

There's 63k signatures on the petition so far so maybe we'll at least get a patch. But with this system, the way it sounds is the only way to guarantee a match with your friends is through a private match. What's funny is DICE took advantage of all this yesterday to announce that they will have dedicated servers in Bad Company 2.

Smooth, refer them to the fiasco at the OFP2 forums. Let them see what real PC players want. There is a lot of pissed off people over at OFP2 who bought the game only to find out it will not be like OFP in any way and especially no SADS - They are really miffed at OFp2 - It will happen at CoD as well. Just do not buy the game like we did over at OFP2. Make them implement the SADS or watch the sales plummet.

About 73k sigs on the petition now. Valve had a similar matchmaking system in Left 4 Dead, I think BF had something like it also but was optional because there was still a server list. This type of system is going to kill PC gaming communities if it catches on. It gives all control to the developer. No mods, no custom maps, no getting together for daily casual gaming that's easily accessible. Also, once the game is a few years old, if they decide it's financially burdensome to keep the servers online, they will shut them down and that's the end of the game. Complete control over a product that we should rightfully own once purchased. They've taken the one game I was looking forward to this whole year and ruined it. The developers see the PC market as an entity not worth dealing with anymore. Why bother when you can have larger profits with consoles. They cheap out and just port the console version over. Nothing against consoles, but I see them as having more casual gameplay. I play on PC because of the communities, more advanced hardware, and generally more immersive game experiences. They're steering us away from that. When you see big name titles like GTA, Far Cry, CoD, etc. with PC versions which are basically ports, it's obvious.

Yep, I see this coming where we will need to purchase the SADS rather than have it built in. I still think if the PC market drops it's sales and refuses to buy a game that is not meant for PC (Ported Consoles are watered down lazy version of the game)
I am heading back to ArmA2 or A1. Least I can go online and play a decent game anytime.

Basically, they're going through with it regardless.

I think we should look towards Bad Company 2 for our next FPS. Sounds like these guys know what PC gamers want.

Would be careful with Dice, they do not have a good track record for fixing bugs in their games. I beleive they are using ICE to do some of the engine work. They ARE terrible.
