What else can we draw definably here? Other than Bad bad bad badbad card.

It appears most everything is ruled out even the driver.  So IMHO, time to step up to that juicy GTX 295 you've always wanted  popcorn

On the unit I had it did it like 4 times in one day. I got a guru to look at it and he could find nothing wrong. we went through the drivers and power stuf.  The card did generate a lot of heat..but it always did.  Then it did fine for a few days..then started getting progressivly worse.  I finally took in in to a shop and thats what theysaid... bad card.

I know you like to solve these things Smooth..but that may be your next step.  Either put the card in another cpu or have someone check it.  It will at least maybe possible answer the problem.

Well blaming it on the devices easy but truth is, things similiar to this would be something like configuration or drivers but he has al the basis covered.  Looking at all the posts out there about the pink scren they call it the pink screen of death.  The cure was a new card but that does not solve the answer - the more I look this up I see this is common in the 88xx - 96/8 cards as well.

FYI to anyone with a similar problem in the future.  I RMA'ed it to EVGA about a week and a half ago, got my replacement today.  They didn't give me any problems.  I can't tell if the replacement is a recert or new.  It did have that peel away plastic on the backplate and fan housing, but there were some smudges on the bracket.  Either way it's a working card thus far though I will put it under a heavy load later to make sure.

EVGA has NEVER given me a problem NEVER. Customer support is 2nd to NONE. I have dealt with just about all of them at some point or another to.

Smooth I do know by talking to a tech at EVGA that they do test the replacement cards before they ship them out. this may be where the smudges come in. Hope its all good bud.
