split topic - tk

TK, you might look into running that 9500 as a dedicated PhysX in SLI with the 200 series.  Something you might be interested in reading:

Wow, that is very interesting.  Man Smooth nice find!  I just may look into that.
Question - The GTX26+up all have PhysX right? (I will be getting one soon)  So the gain for this would be?
I would assume it would be taking the PhysX rendering from the gtx which would allow it to concentrate on the graphic while the 9500 would pick up the business end of the PhhysX?

From what I understand about the PhysX is not so much the Eye candy but for detail and logic aspects in the games.  Such as blood spatter or damage and how a building would look like being hit from one side and how it would look different being hit from the other side. Where normally it would all look the same all the time.  As we know, it really wouldn't in real life.  That is only an example and probably not a good one.
Basically I think the PhysX (Which I have witnessed in other games) brings in more realism and logic.

I split this post BTW - An interesting topic.

I think another example is the new games like ArmA 2 and Operation Flashpoint 2 (release date not established yet - 2009).  These games have AI logic that is not heard of in the gaming world until lately.
For instance, how you interact with the local civilians will depict on how you are received by them. I think I read where the PhysX controls this which really has nothing to do with video and I think that is were I am confused.

You will only benefit if the game is coded for Physx.  I know 200 series has it onboard.  You might remember the Aegia PPU card, Nvidia bought them in 2008.  Dedicated PPU's didn't really catch on, but this is the same technology incorporated directly into the GPU.  Multi-GPU SLI takes it off the main GPU and puts it on a lower end card, typically gaining around 10 fps on average from the benchmarks I've seen.  8 series and up has this ability.  Personally, It's not something I'd invest in another card for, but if you've got one laying around you might as well run it.
