Anyone?  So far this is very nice.  It is  not bloated like XP or Vista.  Very fast and desktop is nice.  I like it very much.
I think what I like most was that I had left everything hooked up (Printer, Nostamo52 USB gamepad, G15 keyboard.... and more!) when installing this operating system on a seperate 500g drive. (Both Vista and WIN7 are on identicle SATA 500g drives)
It found all the most recent drivers and installed them at the first start up.  That in it self made me wonder why I had all these disk and links ready waiting to do the obligatory device install for all my devices. That was long over due!

Anyhow, it plays games better in most respects from what I see.  FRAPS (Not a real perfect source for FPS) is showing an increase of 15-20 frames per sec in WIN7.  This is noted by using the exact same settings in my Vista64 OS.  I get 35 average frames in multilayer using Vista 64bit.  Switching to the WIN7 , using the same map, server, settings I get 50-55 average frames.  Notable to say the least. (Both times running DX9 - Playing ArmA II same maps and server - Game settings = High across the board, 5000 view distance and same resolution)
I also notice that I use much less physical memory after start up and at idle.  I have 4gig Corsair6400 and I show 12% usage after start up in W7.  Vista I show 33%.  Hmmmm.
Okay, one draw back here is that I do not have all of the programs loaded as I do with my working Vista, so to be fair, that is some of the difference right there BUT - running services are nearly the same.  So I do believe that there is some nice change to what actually is running and what isn't.
So you know, I have had WIN7 onboard for a little over a month now, I use it everyday Hardly use Vista now).  The reason I say this is so I can establish that this was not just a new fresh install when I tested this.  It is still 12% physical memory just as it was when I installed this.  All application open when clicked - no waiting.

Anyone else notice how much smoother this OS is?

seems ok... coming from XP it takes a little getting used to... i HATE the "pin to taskbar" ... seriously, bring me back my quick-launch....

can't get AA3 to run missions on it... installed it to take training...

still playing around a bit with it... loaded it on an old hdd i had, 5400 rpm, so its a bit slow, but an improvement on what vista is on the few computers i've dealt with it on...

sweet... its like PIP if you have a tv card in your computer... the little "preview" if you hold your mouse over the status bar shows what you are watching... now that is a slick feature... if I'm browsing the net and hear something i wanna see quick, but don't want to stop reading a news article or something lol...

Ya, that was in Vista but this looks more gooder in WIN7.
Not sure what you mean by quick launch - I know when pinned, hover or click on the item you have and it opens or like in your screen shot I beleive you rigth click and open it from the big list?

I can't seem to serve a game on this with a shortcut command - seems it just does not recognise an argument in a shortcut.  Wierd.  Well, it is a BETA...

and TK, this was the old quicklaunch i was referring to... I don't like to group my tasks, but pinning is basically designed for it... so it drives someone like me crazy... but maybe i'm just in that .01% ...

reading some replies in the forums, this is an issue for many people... but the solution is simple... since I got used to the term "quick launch", I failed to realize that quicklaunch was just a folder on the taskbar :P since it is just a folder, create a new folder and name it your quick launch, and store all your files there :P ... it just lacks the name "quick launch" which threw me off lol...

Okay, I just couldn't see what it was you were on to there - Thats cleared it up.

S! Eve, thanks for  the link - I know it has been out for a while, I have had it on board since the end of May and it is about all I use.
I do have to revert back to XP on my 2nd machine to serve a game.  Oddly, it will serve but will not seek the load up files when hosting a game.  It does host the game but as a default server - cannot get the cfg files to be included.  I will look more into this

i've heard things about shortcut commands not working in 7...  so if you are loading the config from the shortcut (like .exe" -config C:\path) things like that won't work... so i've heard... haven't actually tried it yet...
