Nope, just get 64 bit versions of any drivers you will be needing, chipset, graphics, etc.

i'm using 64-bit... didn't have to manually install any drivers... it found and installed them all automatically during the update... had problems with my tv tuner card, but after about 4 days, it found a new update and installed that too...

Good news about the conversion from XP if anyone is doing that. if you use the file transfer thingy, it saves your game profiles, and even your progress in the game, soyou dont have to replay campaign missions or anything.

Jug, the only work around is to put this on an new HD if possible and keep your old file structure in tact on the drive with all your goodies on it.  You will still have access to it as you would another drive.  At the very least, you will have everything but will need to do some fancy copying.  Such as your applications folder, program data (notice data and the end of that one) and a few other moves that may put you back in the similar state you had before.
For instance Steam, if I bring up my old HD the one with Vista which has all my gaming and other goodies.  It works fine through win7.  Other games you may need to copy the application data (personal data that contains profiles and other things you might miss) Vista sorted them in a few places such as program data, application data and so on.

Have they started putting Win7 on new machines yet..such as Dell and HP?? I wonder what will be going on in Moldova in eastern europe.  I suppose any computers we bring with us will be okay with XP, but we may need to purchase one or two there.

There is a big war on what browser feature is to be used in the Euro versions - plus you may want to check out what you can actually bring back with you as for software.  There is some strange things happening across the pond with Microsoft

I already have it all installed and it carried over all my stuff, i have everything just the way i want it. now apparently because ti hung on the part where you choose the drive you want, (it said it couldn't install on that drive) and so i formatted it and it still wouldn't continue. so I had to restart the install. it finished and i got all my stuff installed and then the activate thing popped up and it won't activate. i think its because i formatted it before i restarted it.  i found a website with a possible registry tweek fix that i'm gona try tonight before i try Kitty's suggestion to reinstall.

I have it running smoothly on an AMD 64 X2 2.6 GHZ, 2 GB RAM, Nvidia 7600 AGP Video card... my stuff is fairly dated and it performs better on my machine than XP did...

you typically won't need all the bells and whistles in Ultimate or even Professional... Best bang for your buck is the Windows 7 Family pack for around $150... provides you with 3 license keys to use on 3 different computers (upgraded).
