Performance per dollar wise, you would probably see bigger gains by putting the cash somewhere else in your system.  Most of the reviews I've read on gaming targeted NIC's have indicated that as well.

I imagine it can help.  
IMHO it is not so much your ethernet card that is the issues with internet gaming (lag, latency...) rather it is everything between you and the game server. So if this has some magical way of taming down the hops and packet loss that would be great!  I really do not think it can though.  What I believe it can do for you is prioritise data your machine receives and focus mainly on that rather than all the internet noise that actually hits our machines that we never see.  VoIP might be one thing I see as prioritised.
I agree with Smooth, money spent elsewhere on that machine would be better spent.
