Wii platform is crashing router
«
on:

For some reason any time I hook my Wii up to the wireless network it crashes my network. As soon as I disconnect it from the network and reboot everything the network works fine. Has anyone else had issues like this, even with any other platform??
My network consists of Cable modem, Linkys Wireless-g WRT54GS router, 1 desktop hardwired to router, 1 laptop and of course the troublesome Wii. At the moment it is not a big issue but.... I plan on getting a PS3 near future and if I wanna play multi on line I do not want any issues. Any thoughts or finger pointing to help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
APG-Lonewolf

I have a D-Link WBR-2310... took me about 2 hours to figure out that i needed to change my security from WEP to WAP (WAP2 caused issues, and WEP wouldn't connect). If you're router supports "gaming mode", turn it on... helps with the load balancing and packet priority. I just setup my parents new wii and had absolutely no problems with network, most likely because they live in the country and don't have security setup on their router lol. Security protocols are the only thing i've had problems with, so I may suggest trying different protocols and see what you can come up with.

If you use WEP - Use the
first
key generated on the router wireless security. For instance you create a keyword and it brings up 4 hex dec. sets to choose from. Use the number 1 set. Log in to your Wii and follow the prompts for networking. This is how I fixed mine.

Well low and behold after the Wii incident I was having issues with my Linksys Advisor seeing the internet. I was connected but it did not show up on the network as connected and kept telling me I was not connected. After contacting Linksys via chat they had me remove my old advisor and installed the next version. SWEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT... it worked. right off the bat. I was leary at first because it said there was no internet connection and BAM!!! it fixed it. So I might press my luck and try re-hooking the Wii back up and see if I can recreate complete chaos again.
