i just bought 4 gig's of G-skill pc6400 800mhz  4-4-4-12. just formatted this system, but i'm haveing sys lag issues and memory cannot be written warnings at shutdown/reboot. i installed CPU-Z too check setting's on every thing. only odd thing is, my memory says 400 mhz and the clocks seem's wrong aswell. i know i can change these in bios. but cant make heads or tails of it. i was able too set the 800 mhz but it still read's 400 thru cpu-z.

CPU-Z reading's:

It's running on a divider.  First question, do you have it in linked/synched mode or unlinked?

Yes, I'm not sure where in your particular bios, but usually near FSB, Multiplier, Frequency settings, stuff like that.  It's running slightly underspeed right now, it should be 400Mhz in cpu-z if it's DDR2-800.  That shouldn't cause the type of problems you're describing, but get it at it's proper speed first then we can work with it.

EDIT: By the way, I just read in your original post you were trying to get it to read 800Mhz in cpu-z.  Don't do that.  It's DDR ram, meaning Double Data Rate.  If it were to read 800Mhz in cpu-z that would mean it is operating at 1600Mhz which is an insane overclock and more than any DDR2-800 can handle.  That would certainly cause lockups or failed POSTs.

Also, your timings are loose.  You're running 5-5-5-15 when it should be 4-4-4-12.

Most of what I'm seeing from google searches points to it being a hard drive problem or a problem with external usb drives.  And I really can't help you out much more about getting the memory at the correct speed without knowing what options are available in your bios.

i think the memory issue is locked out, i'm still looken to find it. some things are locked, but unlock if u click on the appropriate item.

I think Smooth is right about the hard drive, I think Paging is on the hard drive by default. I think i would  remove the paging file, reboot.  defrag. then add the page file back and reboot again. that should recreate your page file to a new location on the drive. also while your pc is off, might as well reseat the HD cable
