Thought I would spend my income tax return on this:

P55 UD3R MB
Intel Core i5 750  2.66GHz 8MB
4 gigs ram.

ATI Radeon HD5850 1 GB
500 Gig Sata
Sata DVD Writer
Windows 7 preofessional
Logictech g15 Keyboard and G9 Mouse
24” MAG  monitor
Logitech x530 Speakers.
Antec EarthWatts 650 PSU

Maybe I can get back in the game with this?

Very nice component choices.  Looks like you're right on the price points.  Is this going to be a homebuilt or ordered from somewhere?  Just so I know before I make any suggestions.

Haven't decided about the homebuilt thing.  I have done a bit of assembly myself and think I could handle it and a couple of people to ask if I get into too much trouble.  I also have a friend that builds them and wil put it together for me for a small fee, usually a grilled steak.

I'd go with Home over Pro for Windows 7 unless you have some specific business need for Pro, save yourself almost 200 bucks.  Install it in 64-bit to make the most of your ram.  Also look for Sata II with your hard drive.  Infact Sata III is starting to come around now but I think it's mostly people with SSD's getting into that so far.  Most normal HD's won't even hit the Sata I bandwidth cap, but Sata II's been around a while now.

64 bit and sata II, check.  Thanks, good advice.  I do need the Pro.
Thanks Raid.  My justification is for my freelance web design work, but I figured I have a good gaming computer while I was at it. LOL

Modular plus dual rail - price is outstanding as well.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4362114&CatId=1483

You or who will ever builds this will appreciate the modular design allowing only the connections you need.  This allows you to not have all the extra unused PSU wires.
For OCZ, this is a nice price.  The Dual Rail is a boon.
It is only a 600w but that is plenty unless you are going to install several HD's and CD/DVD payers and an over abundance of USB devices attached.

That looks way kewel and I like the OCZ memory.  I will have to have a couple of extra SATAs connected.

I use Corsair on my chit but have built several for others in the past using OCZ resulting in top performance, even today - actually the performance I would like. Personally I think OSZ (as well as other quality name brand companies) has realized quality and price do matter and have hit the middle as any good company should.
Don't get me wrong here - the 4 gig Corsair DDR2 6400 I am using is sweet and the price was right at the time but it does appear over the last year or so that name brands (quality name brands) have really started to compete = this is good.
So look at those prices.  A couple bucks extra for a solid non-generic upgrade is always nice.

BTW Eve and Jug, I am an XFX fan. Unfortunately I paid a littel more for the 'Name' at the time of my build last year. Looking at this same type or close to same type build today would be a better bet. This is a good time to use that extra $ to improve or build a nice set.

My build is Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz 4M - XFX 780i MB - XFX GF GTX260 896MB GPU - Ultra 750w Modular - Corsair DDR2 6400 - WD 1 TB x 2 HD.
The nice thing about matching up the bread and butter of the system (MB, GP and if possible memory) is the support you have in using one source for your query.
I can speak for XFX, if there is an issue with what I have - chances are they already have a fix simply by going to their website - if you register your stuff, the answers and updates are one click a way. Pretty nice really.
I have been planning on updating to going Quad, but so far, the Duo seems to do just fine.  I have had this system running at 3.06 without any issue other than of course a slight rise in CPU temp.

Go for a 2ms response time for gaming, beware of monitors listing this as 2ms(gtg) or gray to gray as it's not a true measurement of response time.  24 inch too, that card will handle the high res just fine.  Also you might want to look for one with a glossy screen.  The last monitor I bought has one and I will never go back to a matte screen.  The colors stand out much more although you do get a little glare sometimes especially if your light source isn't behind the monitor.  It's really personal preference though.  Post whatever you're considering so we can steer you the right way.

24 " MAG LED... a friend has one and I like pretty well. I will have to check if it is glossy.  I have very little knowledge of monitors.
