Never tried MSI anything, but same thing internal exhaust. May as well go for the EVGA 1gb version if you're gonna do that. I guarantee you will see high temps with those style hsf's though.

these are temp's posted pre EE i believe. i have a msi board installed now, these card's are supposed to run much cooler under load.(even tho i still dont trust 70c on my 9800gt or any card for that matter)performance just seem's too go south.anything over 63c on this 9800 and IIIK. i get white screen's,black screens and crashes, even a few system lock up's. almost every time i "alt tab" or "alt enter" to adjust my fan speed back to 100%.
not fussen with ya about it, i trust your judgment on these issues. i'm just frustrated with these issue's,and now waiting on EVGA to get there ass in gear is frustrating aswell.
but yes i was eyeing the 1GB GTX 460 but noted the lower temp's on the MSI is all. and dam what a cooler!! although i prefer EVGA.
sry if im skippen around on what i'm tryen too say, got hit by some heat exhaustion. and my noodle is a lil scrambled.

That benchmark was run with an ambient of 21C, or 70F, and probably outside a case on a testbed setup since they are swapping so many cards to review. Keep in mind it's about 20F hotter than that this time of year, at least where I am. Not saying it's not legitimate, just saying always be skeptical. Heat generally won't effect performance; if it get's too hot it'll artifact, bluescreen, or eventually lock up depending on what component is stressed. I've had a card experience a temp runaway almost to the thermal shutdown limit and framerate went unchanged right up until the crash. Also, I don't see where you're getting that 70C is too hot. I had an old 7800GT with a full copper heatsink that used to hit 70C. That's a normal load temp for a modern gpu, probably 35C short of the shutdown limit.

As far as MSI goes Wild i have 2 MSI boards. Both New DDR3 1600 boards with quad core AMD Processors. I haven't had one bad thing with them at all. So far so good.
Though as we noticed earlier i don't know why EVGA stopped their lifetime warranty but that was a main selling point for me.
I have an ATI XFX card and it has a double life time warranty on it. Meaning if I sell the card the next guy gets the same warranty as well its transferable to him.

What?

Also, the 460 is actually filling the 465's spot in Nvidia's lineup. The 465 is power hungry for its performance level and uses an older GF100 design while the 460 uses GF104. They bench about the same.

The lifetime warranty on EVGA is only on certain Models. I checked one of the video cards on new egg and it said it had the 3 year parts 2 year labor warranty.

It's always been that way on the mid-range models.
