Yeah, i suppose we could do that and probably would if we had a natural gas leak.  Ours is liquid...oil.  That was rock and soil, the ocean would be mud and my guess would be that it would rupture the heck out of the ocean floor and only god knows how big that oil field is in the water.  I don't think that procedure would work, but i bet it would make the blue ocean black.

well they are drilling a parallel well, two in fact (one is a backup) for the purpose of blocking the flow. what they intend to do when they get the drilling done, I don't know, but I'm sure they are aware of the options. they may intend to dynamite it?  i think the nuclear option would be a problem for the tree huggers, and probably for a bunch of people.

I think its a problem anyway you look at it.  I am not sure this would work here but BB, they are 18000 feet below and well belwo the mud layer.
The treehuggers really do not matter at this state.

They intend to do the heavy mud followed by concrete thing again.  Only much lower down in the well.
