run a line directly from your phone box to your computer.   make sure all the filters are on your lines

tomkat go down the line.

unplug the modem and router....wait 5 mins and then power up*
make sure its connx by ethernet only (no usb cable*)
find a firmware update*
poke around the allowances of your firewall**and built in winxp firewall*** when u exit games does the Msxp firewall ask for unblocking????
edit your routers ports and deley if needed*
if needed edit your receiving window RWIN to no more then 32767 and the MTU value to 1492 bytes**

if this fails return the modem to your isp and ask them to reset your signal from their office.
--------completly delete any and all Norton / Symantec apps--------- replace them with some thing unobtrusive like trend micro.

hope this helps

S!

Okay, deep breath  popcorn

What is your set up?  Like modem and router.  Is modem connected to a router or directly to your computer.  By USB?  Just like Instinct stated, you want nothing between your DSL line and the phone box.  Old phone wireing or 2nd hand phone lines can and will pollute the connection.

I have a ActionTec 54mbs DSL gateway modem with a 7.5mb DL and 5.0mb up "so they say" I'm usein the ethernet
"YELLOW" line from the Phone jack to the modem. The House was bult in 2000 so I dont think it is a old line. As for phone I have a hands free. the line is to the modem only.

it sounds like a bump software wise that is*

some sort of thrown setting.  as i said examine both native and 3rd party firewall permissions or delays, ms firewall will ask for permissives for block unblock ..there may be a 30 second timer on this after wich it allows traffic?.

you may not see this notice as you have brought up your game and are unaware of notices at the desktop.  also are you using any symantec apps?
